So you're interested in rapid weight loss? Well who wouldn't want to fall asleep one night and wake up the next morning completely thin and fit? The problem is, that it is extremely hard to achieve anything close to this and the fact that rapid weight loss is rarely permanent weight loss nor healthy weight loss. There are things you can do to speed up the process a bit as well as make it easier on you, but rapid weight loss in not recommended over gradual slimming down. More than a few pounds per week is simply not healthy or maintainable. If you are still interested in rapid weight loss an appetite suppressant like hoodia is very effective and does not have harsh side effects, but it is still recommended you use it to gradually slim down rather than try to drop all of your excess pounds over one weekend.

Diet drugs can help you lose weight, but there are some you should think carefully about and some diet drugs you should avoid completely. The diet drugs I would tell you to think carefully about are fat blockers like Orlistat (Alli) and others. The side effects from these are generally mild and limited to things to do with gastrointestinal tract. The downside of these diet drugs is that they do not seem to be particularly effective for weight loss. Clinical studies done on the fat blocker group of diet drugs showed that the groups which took placebos lost on average the same amount of weight as those who took the fat blockers. Thermogenic and appetite suppressant diet drugs should always be avoided because of the negative health effects. Thermogenic diet drugs work by increasing body temperature so that calories are burnt off as heat rather than stored as fat; but this commonly results in fatally high fevers or serious injury. Most thermogenic diet drugs have been banned. While an appetite suppressant in it of itself is not a bad idea, most of the pharmaceutical diet drugs of this type have more nagtive effects than positive ones. We all need help with our diet now and again but amphetamines like Phentermine have been shown to cause heart attack, stroke, hypertension, overdose and are extremely addictive. Rather than using these types of diet drugs, a natural appetite suppressant like Hoodia is far more recommended. Hoodia has no negative side effects and is not a stimulant. Hoodia will not have drug interactions like diet drugs do and it still suppresses appetite effectively.

The hoodia cactus (actually hoodia succulent) has been used by the Sans Bushmen of the Kalahari for centuries. In addition to being an appetite suppressant the Bushmen also believe the hoodia cactus to be a cure for among other things: stomach cramps, hemorrhoids, diabetes and high blood pressure. While this is most likely not the case, in fact it is hard to imagine that centuries ago they could even understand the causes and treatments for diabetes and hypertension, it is hard for anyone who has ever eaten the hoodia cactus or taken a hoodia extract to argue that it does not have an amazing effect on hunger. After ingesting a small amount of the hoodia cactus it is very difficult to picture eating anytime soon, or at least anything sizable. This is of course why the hoodia cactus has gotten the attention of the Western World, because it might be the best treatment for obesity to come along in the past fifty years. Unlike the appetite suppressants that preceded it, hoodia is not a stimulant and does not have any adverse side effects. The hoodia cactus is a great diet aid for those looking to overcome obesity and those who want to lose just a few pounds alike.
